Kim Thurman moved to approve the 2026 budget as presented. The motion was seconded and approved by a unanimous voice vote.
2026 Election of Officers – In September, the nominating committee submitted the following names for the five elected positions to the RVGS Board of Directors: President, Frank Marksman; Vice President, Ros Lyne; Secretary, Cathy Ullrich; Treasurer, Valerie Sanders; and Trustee, Patt Herdklotz. Anne Billiter asked for any additional nominations. Since there were no further nominations offered either today or at the September meeting, Anne asked the acting secretary to cast a verbal consent resolution in accordance with the Society’s Bylaws, Article IX, section 5, confirming the 2026 officers.

Member Sharing – Anne shared what she recently learned about FamilySearch’s “full text search.” The completeness of such a search will be different if conducted from home, at the RVGS Library, or at a Family Search Library, or a Family Search Center, is based on the access level of the record.

PROGRAM – Ros Lyne explained how to participate in the National Archives “Citizen Transcription Project,” the goal of which is to transcribe 2.5 million Revolutionary War Pension Records. Kathie Ordal discussed what she learned about a sailor from the early days of the war when she transcribed his pension records.
