Member Meeting Minutes
Call to Order President Anne Billeter called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm.  A quorum was declared.  The meeting was in person and via Zoom.

Approval of February Minutes  
Frank Marksman moved to approve the May 2024 Member Minutes; Marilyn Ayres seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report  Kim Thurman presented the Treasurer’s report. Kim also summarized some changes and adjustments made to the previous months’ entries. In addition, RVGS has a surplus of $31,000 that will be transferred for capital improvement. The current Fund Drive is going well and is expected to assist our bottom line.

Total expenses:                   $ 7406.18
Net operating income:        $-5593.76
Net income:                          $-5542.46

Member Sharing Kim Thurman shared information about the Oregon Bottle drop. To participate go to the Bottle Drop website. Kim also reported that she will be on the KOBI Sunrise morning news on the morning of 24 June promoting RVGS.

Board Action Anne Billeter summarized the new format for Genealogy Week, with a class in the morning, a lunch break, then time to work with the instructor on the new learning. Newbies are the focus this year. There are no membership meetings or classes scheduled in July or August; SIG groups will continue.

Program Rich Miles summarized the member survey which is available on our website under “Member Resources.” Discussion ensued about the future of RVGS in relation to paving the parking lot and the ongoing adjustments to the highway and its impacts.

Summary Reports
1. Education – Genealogy Week will be Sep 23-27 with a focus on beginning genealogy. Tuesday, Sep 24, when there will be a Quilts and Genealogy Program about Sue Waldron’s 9/11 Quilt in the afternoon.In October we will begin two Beginning Genealogy Class Series, with monthly classes @ $5.00 for members, $10.00 for non-members.  Classes will be on the second Thursdays, In Person from 10:30 AM – Noon, and Zoom from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.
2. Membership - Loretta Barker - Membership stands at 667.
3. Technology & Data Management – The annual fund drive was launched June 1st.
4. Volunteer - Ann Baracker - We currently have 76 volunteers, who worked 999 hours in May 2024.Preparations are in full swing for our July 20 Open House: “Chasing Freedom, Our Ancestors’ Search for Life, Liberty, and Happiness.” You are invited to wear a costume representing an historical person.
 
Announcements:
  • Next Board Meeting:  Monday, July 8, at 9:30 a.m. at the library. Members are welcome!
  • Next Program & Member Meeting:  Tuesday, September 17, 1:30 p.m., “Discoveries from the RVGS Special Interest Groups”
  • Upcoming Classes & Programs:  Online pre-registration is required at www.rvgslibrary.org.
    • Classes are now available as hybrid: register to receive Zoom link or view in the library.
    • Drop-In Help Sessions do not require registration and are in person only.
1. LET’S TALK ABOUT GENEALOGY: Wednesday, June 19, 1:30 – 3:00 PM, Juneteenth will be a focus.
2. CLASS: Friday, June 21, 10:30 AM – Noon - “Finding Records of Your Revolutionary Ancestor” by Pat Healy
3. QUILTS AND GENEALOGY PROGRAM: Tuesday, June 25, 1:30 - 2:30 - “The Bentonville Friendship Quilt” by Barbara Grimes - In Person Only; Bicentennial Quilt Raffle winner will be drawn.
