RVGS volunteers are the heart of our library, programs, and events. To thank them for their service, the Board of Directors has partnered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Jackson County and their Community Volunteer Network (CVN).
Eligible RVGS volunteers can receive valuable benefits simply for doing the volunteer work they already enjoy.
RSVP Benefits for Eligible Volunteers Age 55+
Whether you choose to volunteer in the library, assist with events, serve on a committee, or support other society activities, these benefits can help offset the cost of volunteering.
- Mileage reimbursement for travel to and from the library and approved RVGS activities (currently 50¢ per mile, up to $50 per month)
- Supplemental accident insurance while volunteering and traveling to and from RVGS volunteer activities
- Volunteer recognition and appreciation programs sponsored by RSVP
Participation is Simple
- Complete a short RSVP application.
- Continue tracking your volunteer hours.
- Record mileage for travel to and from approved volunteer activities.
- Submit the monthly fillable volunteer hours and mileage form provided by RSVP.
Even volunteers who live outside Jackson County may qualify. RSVP staff can help determine eligibility and answer any questions.
A Great Benefit for Current and Future Volunteers
This program is one more way RVGS says “thank you” to the dedicated volunteers who make our society successful. We also hope it encourages members who have been thinking about volunteering to get involved. With mileage reimbursement, supplemental insurance, and a simple reporting process, volunteering with RVGS is easier and more rewarding than ever.

Thank you to all our volunteers for the time, talent, and enthusiasm they bring to RVGS.
