Join us for our fall seminar - Tumultous Times: From Colonies to States. This half-day seminar will feature three professional genealogists each presenting one hour talks. Join us for the watch party at the RVGS Library or via Zoom.
10:30 - 11:30 18th Century America Cultural Changes and their Effect on Records with speaker Sylvia Tracy Doolos. From colonial expansion to revolution, 18th-century America was a time of upheaval. Discover how political, cultural, and social transitions shaped recordkeeping, and learn where to find the surviving documents of your ancestors.
12:30 - 1:30 Revolutionary Choices: Exploring Loyalist and Patriot Roots with speaker Kathryn Lake Hogan. As families chose sides - Patriot or Loyalist - their descendants sent ripples across generations. Many who remained loyal to the British Crown found refuge in what would become Canada. Others remained in the newly formed United States of America. How do we trace those stories today?
1:45 - 2:45 Revolutionary War Homefront: Researching Your Civilian Ancestor’s Life. Much of our research in the Revolutionary War era is focused on those who enlisted. But what about those who stayed home? This class will focus on researching your civilian ancestors during the Revolutionary War period.
Cost: $45 for members $55 for non-members
