Kim Thurman pointed out that we had received a $20,000 donation towards our Scholarship Fund.  Marilyn Ayres, Chairman of this committee, stated how grateful she and her committee are for this wonderful donation.  In addition, we have received an anonymous donation for $5,000.  Kim Thurman noted how blessed we are to have such generous members.  Judy Ryden asked if we are a non=profit and asked if there are restrictions on how we spend this money.  Kim Thurman noted the many projects that we have waiting for funds, the HVAC in the meeting room needs to be replaced and we need a new server.  We also have submitted a grant for hybrid equipment for our meeting room.  This grant requires that we need to pay one-half of the cost of this equipment.  Pat Jenkins asked if in-kind contributions work for the matching funds.  Kim Thurman will check this out.   Rich’s hours will count.
Motion:  Anne Billeter moved that we post the 2022 Proposed Budget on the bulletin board in the Library and also post it on-line so members can review it before the October meeting.  Marilyn Ayres seconded.  Motion passed.
MEMBER SHARING.  Rich Miles stated that his husband recently discovered that his third great grand-father. Moses Quesenberry, is buried in Ashland and that he had no headstone.  He died in 1911, outliving his siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren!  There will be a ceremony on September 30 to place a headstone on his grave.

BOARD ACTIONS.  Kim Thurman noted that Director Summaries are shown on the agenda.  Kim noted that our Finance Director has resigned.  Kim Thurman, Rich Miles, and Katie Haugse are working on the grant.

PROGRAM.  Barbara Halvorsen introduced the program for today, “New Member Shoutout.”  Nancy Keely, Monica Krise, and Judy Ryden.  These three have all joined RVGS since 2019.  Their stories of discovering genealogy were varied and extremely interesting.  They provided us with an insight to each of their genealogy journey.  Barbara thanked them for being brave enough to share their stories with us.  Kim Thurman also thanked them; you just never know what might light the spark to search for ancestors.  Kim reminded everyone that next month’s program will be about cemetery superstitions.  Our speaker is connected to Billion Graves.

Meeting adjourned at 3:04 p.m.
Loretta Barker, Secretary
