Photo Restoration

Do you have old photos that are damaged and need some TLC? Or maybe one of those old, rolled-up class or panorama shots that can’t be unrolled – and you have no idea what’s in the photo? The Rogue Valley Genealogical Society offers photo restoration services for your valuable photo treasures. See the before and after examples below, click on the thumbnail to view a larger photo.

You can order photo restoration services in two ways, including online!
To submit your photo online for restoration, just follow these steps.
  1. If you have a scanner, scan your photo in .jpg format at 600 dpi (dots per inch). If you don't have a scanner, please see the section below, "If you would like RVGS to scan your photos." Do NOT just take a picture of your photo as the resolution quality will not be high enough to produce a good restoration.
  2. Email your scanned photo to Mary Tsui at TsuiMary@outlook.com.
  3. Click here and fill out the online form with your instructions. This must be done before work can begin on your photo. The form will open in a new window so you can return here if necessary for the remainder of the instructions.
  4. Once the photo restoration is complete, you will receive an email with the total cost billed at $15/hour. A minimum of one hour will be charged.
  5. Go to our Donate page on this website, either at the bottom of the homepage, or from the Support Us menu. Submit the payment through PayPal being sure to comment in the note section that the "donation" is for photo restoration work.
  6. Once payment is received, finished photo will be emailed to you as an attached file in the format requested. Note: if the file is too large for email transmission, it may be delivered to you by thumb drive.
  7. If you have any questions, feel free to email Mary at the link above.
If you would like RVGS to scan your photos:
  1. Take your original photos to the RVGS library at 3405 S Pacific Hwy, Medford. Let the librarian at reception know you would like to order scanning and photo restoration services. If you cannot scan your photo, RVGS can scan photographs up to 8”x14”, but it will require dropping off the original photograph at the RVGS library until the project is complete.  In addition, stores such as Staples, Office Depot, and FedEx/Kinkos all offer scanning services. If you use their services, then follow the steps above for contacting RVGS for restoration services.
  2. Completely fill out the form provided by the librarian and leave your photos with the librarian.
  3. Once your photo restoration is complete, a bill will be emailed you with the total cost billed at $15/hour. A minimum of one hour will be charged. To pay online, go to our Donate page on this website, either at the bottom of the homepage, or from the Support Us menu. Submit the payment through PayPal being sure to comment in the note section that the "donation" is for photo restoration work. You can also mail or drop off payment at the library.
  4. Once payment is received, your finished photo will be emailed to you. Note: if the file is too large for email transmission, it may be delivered to you by thumb drive.
  5. If you have any questions, feel free to email Mary at the link above.
For tightly rolled panorama/class photographs:
  1. Click here and fill out the online form with instructions (or fill out the form at the library). Indicate if you want the photograph scanned and corrected along with the unrolling process. This must be done before work can begin on your photo. The form will open in a new window, so you can return here if necessary for the remainder of the instructions.
  2. A one-hour charge of $15 will apply to the photograph relaxation process in addition to the subsequent scanning and correction charge.
  3. Deliver the rolled photograph in a cover clearly marked “Rolled Photograph” to the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society front desk, with “Attention: Mary Tsui” noted on the outside.
  4. As with regular photographic restoration, once the process has been completed, the total cost will be emailed to you. When RVGS has received payment, the original and any scans and corrected digital photographs will be be available for you to pick up at the RVGS LIbrary.
