CALL TO ORDER: President Kim Thurman called the meeting to order at 1:33 p.m. via Zoom; a quorum was established. Kim welcomed everyone to our December Members’ meeting.
 
MINUTES APPROVAL: The minutes of the November 16, 2021, Members Meeting were presented by Secretary Loretta Barker.

TREASURER’S REPORT. The Treasurer’s Report dated November 30, 2021, was presented by Kim Thurman in absence of Treasurer Barbara Shrewsberry.

Treasurer Barbara Shrewsberry noted that she paid out the monies to our Scholarship winner and paid accounting fees to get our tax forms filed. The report will be posted on the bulletin board in the library. Kim Thurman reviewed our budget and noted that we are at 676.69%. It has been a good year!
 
INSTALLATION OF 2022 BOARD MEMBERS Kim Thurman introduced Ruth Wade to conduct our installation ceremony. Ruth introduced the incoming officers: President, Kim Thurman; Vice President, Katie Haugse; Secretary, Loretta Barker; Treasurer, Marijo Medcraft; and Trustee, Lynne Hunter. She then read the terms of office and each incoming board member agreed to the terms. Kim thanked Ruth for doing our installation and then thanked Katie Haugse and Loretta Barker for being willing to serve for another term. She also thanked Barbara Northrop and Barbara Shrewsberry for serving. Barbara Shrewsberry has been Treasurer for six years! She is ready to spend time with her grandchild and last year graciously agreed to stay on another year. Barbara Northrop will be taking over as Seminar Chair, leads the Newbie Interest Group, manages Amazon book selling, and teaches many classes for RVGS.
 
VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION Kim Thurman noted that RVGS has stayed strong throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and we are 697 members strong! Other societies have been blown away by how large we are and how we have managed to continue with our classes/seminars/interest groups/etc. throughout this difficult time. Other societies have not fared so well. Kim called on various members of our Society and asked them what they had been doing for the Society. Members reporting were: Jeanne Hoadley, Cara Davis-Jacobson, Mary Tsui, Dorothy Cotton, Ruth Wade, Mary Robsman, Sue Waldron, Chris Galligan, Barbara Northrop, Barbara Shrewsberry, Marijo Medcraft, Lynne Hunter, Anne Billeter, Barbara Halvorsen, Pat Jenkins, Rich Miles, Loretta Barker, and Katie Haugse.
 
SUBSCRIPTION ANNOUNCEMENT Kim Thurman announced that as of January 1, 2022, we will have a subscription to NewspaperArchive, which is very exciting. As a matter of fact, members can access it right now because they have given us a month free to try it out. Rich Miles showed us how to log in. We are able to download and save documents. Kim Thurman will be teaching a class on NewspaperArchive after the first of the year.
 
BOARD ACTIONS Remote access for Ancestry will go away January 1. NewspaperArchive has remote access and will remain so. Excel for Genealogy class will be held on January 6. Two writing classes are upcoming. At our January Member meeting Barbara Northrop will tell us about her journey to getting her certification. There will be a seminar on February 5; registration is now open.
 
PROGRAM Barbara Halvorsen introduced Katie Haugse who walked us through the genealogy of Santa Claus. It was a delightful program.
 
CLOSING/ADJOURNMENT Kim thanked everyone for coming to our Member meeting and also those who have volunteered to serve. She wished everyone Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
