Call to Order The October Member Meeting was called to order at 1:32 pm by President Katie Haugse. A quorum was declared with members attending in person and by Zoom.Katie presented a brief review on how to use and find the Member Minutes and information under the “about” tab on RVGS’ web page. She reiterated that we are in need of volunteers to keep RVGS open, citing the closure of the Grants Pass society. We are unable to continue our partnership with OR-CAL due to GP’s situation, so speakers’ costs can no longer be shared across this platform.

Approval of May Minutes
Kim Thurman made a motion to approve the September minutes as written. Lynne Hunter seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report Kim Thurman reported we had an excellent month for member renewals. We had some extra expenses in building maintenance and utilities.
Total income:                       $ 5,326.54
Total Expense:                     $ 4,295.52
Net Operating income         $1,031.02
Net income                           $1,045.90

Budget for 2024 Kim Thurman presented the budget for 2024. It reflected cost increases for websites, utilities and maintenance. Line items will be adjusted as the year progresses. Three to six months’ cash reserve will be maintained.
Linda Turner made a motion to approve the 2024 Budget as presented. Lynne Hunter seconded. Motion carried.
Member Sharing
Chloe Sternola reported that the “Projects Team” is set for their Salem visit the end of October.

Board Actions
President Katie Haugse requested members consider running for a Board position. Muriel Johnson nominated Anne Billeter to run for the President’s position. Anne accepted. Ros Lyne has stepped up to run as Trustee. Cathy Ullrich volunteered to serve another term as Secretary.

Directors’ Summary Reports
  1. Education Committee:  Pat Jenkins - Next Education meeting is November 6th at 9:30 am in the Library. Everyone is welcome
  2. Memberships:  Loretta Barker– Total membership stands at 665 individuals.
  3. Technology & Data Management: Rich Miles – All subscription websites (except Ancestry) remain accessible from home via our website.
  4. Library:  Anne Billeter – Anne is looking for more Librarian volunteers
  5. Volunteer:  Lynne Hunter – numerous positions are open!  Please complete a Volunteer Application under Support Us on our website.

Announcements:
  • Next Board Meeting: Monday, November 13, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at the library. Members Welcome!
  • Next Program & Member Meeting:  Tuesday, November 32, 1:30 p.m., program: “Louisa and the Modocs” by Sue Waldron, in the library & Zoom.
  • Upcoming Classes & Programs: Online pre-registration is required at www.rvgslibrary.org.  Most classes are now available as a hybrid: register to receive Zoom link or view in the library.
  • Saturday, November 4, 10:30 am-12:00, Calls “Evidence Analysis Matters: Establishing Proof Like a Pro” by Kim Thurman
Program Anne Billeter presented a well-researched and informative program on the Moon family of Sam’s Valley.
Adjourned Meeting adjourned at 3:30 pm by President Katie Haugse.
