RVGS Member Meeting Minutes
20 February 2024

Call to Order President Anne Billeter called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm. A quorum was declared. The meeting was in person and via Zoom.

Approval of October Minutes
Anne Billeter moved to approve the January 2024 Member Minutes. There was no second; minutes unanimously approved.
Treasurer’s Report Laurie Gallo presented the Treasurer’s report
Total income:                           $9,374.83
Total expense:                         $3,838.39
Net operating income:           $5,536.44
Net income:                              $6,073.97

Member Sharing
*Rich Miles shared the discovery that Will Brake’s grandmother had 5 husbands, but was missing one of the husband’s names. He found the name by revisiting some of his documents.
*Cathy Ullrich stated she’s been bequeathed an antique family clock upon the death of a second cousin.
*Anne Billeter shared that she will be writing an eNews article about My Heritage
*Katie Haugse thanked Barbara Northrop for her Family Search class, which helped her correct an erroneous tree.
*Nancy Swan was able to direct others to RVGS for help.
*Marilyn Ayres reminded us that the Scholarship deadline was March 8 at 4 pm, and that some applications had already been received.

Board Action
A survey of the RVGS members was approved and will be sent to all members soon.  The last survey was in 2019, prior to the new RVGS website, the pandemic, and the Almeda Fire.

Summary Reports
  1. Education -  Pat Jenkins – A volunteer zoom host scheduler is still needed
  2. Membership - Loretta Barker - Membership currently stands at 666
  3. Technology & Data Management - Rich Miles – The purchase of new equipment to speed up our internet was approved and other equipment upgrades are under consideration.  A donated iMac computer is now available for library users.
  4. Volunteer - Ann Baracker - We currently have 72 volunteers, who worked 853 hours in January 2023.

Adjourned The business portion of the meeting was adjourned at 1:49 by President Anne Billeter.

Program Barbara Northrop presented an informative program on using “The Oregon BlueBook” to support research of Oregon ancestors.
